The width of your receiver tube is an essential consideration. Standard 2-inch receivers are precisely 2 inches wide (inside) with 1/4-inch thick tubing walls. If your vehicle is standard, this 1480KA receiver lock will fit. However, there are receiver tubes with extra-thick walls. Some trucks with heavy-duty tow packages and other trucks come standard with "doubler plates" welded onto the sides of the tube. If that's the case with your truck, you'll need the longer shaft 1469KA receiver lock that measures 3-1/2 inches long. You may request the longer lock via a message to the seller after the transaction, and we will acknowledge your request to ensure your message is received.
As for the LATCH PADLOCK FEATURES, this lock is not recommended for all 2-5/16 couplers. It works great on 1-7/8 and 2-inch couplers. The 37 latch lock will not fit some 2-5/16 couplers. If the latch is recessed on top of the coupler, it's difficult to insert, or if the latch is wider than 3/4 inches, the lock won't close properly. Instead, choose the lock set with the standard #3 padlock - search 3KA-377-3.
It's crucial to note that the width of the receiver tube is a critical factor in determining the appropriate lock. Standard 2-inch receivers are exactly 2 inches wide (inside) with 1/4-inch thick tubing walls, and the 1480KA receiver lock will fit these vehicles. However, some trucks may have receiver tubes with extra-thick walls, and in these cases, you'll need the longer shaft 1469KA receiver lock that measures 3-1/2 inches long.
After the transaction, you can request the longer lock by sending a message to the seller, and we'll acknowledge your request to ensure it's received. As for the LATCH PADLOCK FEATURES, the 1480KA lock is not suitable for all 2-5/16 couplers, but it works great on 1-7/8 and 2-inch couplers. If the latch is recessed or wider than 3/4 inches, the 37 latch lock won't close properly, and you should consider the lock set with the standard #3 padlock (3KA-377-3) instead.
In summary, the width of the receiver tube, the thickness of the tubing walls, and the latch design of the coupler are all crucial factors to consider when selecting the appropriate receiver lock for your vehicle. By understanding these specifications, you can ensure a secure and reliable connection for your towing needs.
